Connection is at the core of everything we build in the Fiveable AP Student Community. We strive to cultivate an inclusive environment for students from across the world to interact and engage with like-minded peers when utilizing our Student Community.
We're searching for students who want to engage and directly impact over 20,000 students worldwide.
This role is only available for high school students. Also, applications are being viewed on a rolling basis—please be patient with our decision. You thrive in collaborative environments and want to help build an ever-evolving Student Community. Social engagement and connectivity are at the core of Fiveable, and you want to move our mission forward by helping increase engagement 10x in the Community and within Fiveable's company as a whole. This is an unpaid, volunteer position, and you must be at least 16 years of age to apply.
Our mission is to make learning easy and fun. We know that educational inequities have left students overwhelmed and fending for themselves. In order to close the opportunity gap, we need to create space for students to be creative and curious. To do this, we've created a social network for online learning communities through interactive content and courses. Because of COVID, we're in a lightning strike moment for education and we're fired up to change the way things are for high school students.
We're a creative group of former teachers, community builders, game designers, and generally curious people who are driven by social impact. We're focused on building a diverse team and are inclusive of all backgrounds. And we're big on growth mindsets - we're all learning!
Assist in the growth of Fiveable's Student Community by hosting a variety of activities and events.
There are many moving pieces that collectively make up the Community Connector Program! We will do our best to put you in the Department you would like to be a part of most, but please note that we have limited spots for each Department available.
You will post Daily Vibes on a weekly rotation, plan biweekly Connector-only events (Sunday evenings), and focus on making sure that the volunteer program and Community are engaged! This is a low-commitment project.
You will lead various game nights with different themes every Saturday in a voice channel. These include trivia, Jeopardy, Gartic Phone, and other fun games! This is a medium-commitment project.
You will lead our most important project — Study Sessions. You will utilize Hours to help students study. This is a medium-commitment project AND can be considered an "add-on" project (you can add it onto your main department's commitments).
You will develop review slideshows and hold AP Review sessions relating to units for specific APs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays! Note: You must have already taken the course and scored at least a 3 to review it. This is a high-commitment project.
You will lead a monthly competition of Fiveable Feud, a spin-off of Family Feud! This is an exciting NEW event where students will form teams and compete against each other to win. This is a low-commitment project.
You will lead a series of projects on a rotation — Musical Nights, Karaoke, and Open-Mic, every Friday in a voice channel. These are centered around music and creativity! This is a medium-commitment project.
This is a NEW department! You will lead weekly Fitness activities in voice channels and help students stay healthy by being active and moving their body! This is a medium-commitment project.
You will compile a list of ACT and SAT practice questions and hold timed sessions in voice channels on a weekly rotation. Note: You must have already taken the ACT/SAT. This is a high-commitment project.
Our Department Lead program is a selective program that chooses students who would be willing to lead a project group! Your hourly limit is 6 hours, and you would send out updates to your team, facilitate your group projects and progress, and keep everyone accountable and engaged! You will be working with anywhere from 5-50 students worldwide and will have additional responsibilities and tasks. This is a high-commitment add-on project.
"It was a very fun experience leading the study sessions and the "Tasting" events because it allowed me to talk to more people. Being a department lead allowed me to experience what it was like being in a leadership role. It was fun but formal like a mini-job at the same time." - Study Sessions Department Lead, Summer 2021
"Becoming a Community Connector was one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences of my entire life. I was able to work with an incredible group of dedicated and passionate individuals to help foster a real community here at Fiveable; I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity and I will cherish this experience forever." - AP "Tasting" Department Lead, Summer 2021
