Fiveable is a social learning platform where students take the lead to grow beyond the classroom together. Through a poppin’ student-led community, accessible study material, and guided programs, Fiveable is where students have the power to create their own future. Here at Fiveable, we know that young people lack learning spaces where they have power to explore the possibilities and take guided steps towards their future. That is why we create spaces that give students more access and confidence to explore their futures together. At Fiveable, we believe that a world where students everywhere have the power to create their own future is possible.

During the 2020-2021 school year, we had 5.5 million unique visitors on our platform, 97,000 new accounts created, and over 23,000 members on our Discord channel. And we are just getting started. Backed by investors such as BBG Ventures, Metrodora Ventures, and 27 Ventures, we raised $2.2 million dollars in their seed round last summer. Check out a list of our other investors here. In the spring of 2021, Fiveable acquired Hours, a virtual study platform where students can come together to learn. Since then, we have been working hard to make Fiveable + Hours the number one place where high schoolers study together.

Who we're looking for

In the last year, Fiveable has grown from 5 employees to 20 full time staff members, 14 part time staff members, and a whole host of student interns and teacher creators. As Fiveable continues to grow its influence in the edtech space, we need to level up our ability to attract high-quality talent across all departments. As the Senior Talent Acquisition Manager, you would be the leader in executing our long-term hiring strategy: creating and growing our sourcing, recruiting, and hiring processes from end to end.

At the same time, companies everywhere are experiencing what researchers have coined The Great Resignation, and hiring has become a prospective candidate's market. Fiveable is not immune to this new competitive climate, and needs a Senior Acquisition Manager who can think about recruiting and retention in innovative ways that take into account the current culture.

In order to close the opportunity gap, we need to create space for students to be creative and curious. To do this, we've created a social network for online learning communities through interactive content and courses. Because of COVID, we're in a lightning strike moment for education and we're fired up to change the way things are for high school students.

You have:

  • At least 4 years of experience with leading full-cycle recruiting
  • Deep knowledge of how to build a diverse sourcing and recruitment pipeline
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both internal team members and external candidates
  • A firm understanding and implementation of recruiting metrics to drive decision-making
  • Proficiency in utilizing an Applicant Tracking System to organize the process and communicate with candidates
  • Evidence in executing an effective talent brand strategy
  • Startup experience strongly preferred
  • A passion for educational equity, supporting students, and/or the edtech space
  • Specific experience in technical recruiting preferred

Own Fiveable's recruiting and hiring process lifecycle.

Strategizing

  • Develop a robust talent acquisition strategy to ensure the staffing needs of the company are consistently met as laid out by the company hiring roadmap
  • Devise and implement sourcing pipelines of diverse candidates by building strong partnerships with relevant organizations and communities
  • Proactively source and attract passive candidates through a variety of methods, building a consistent pipeline of talent for high priority and hard-to-fill positions
  • Own the communication relationship with external candidates
  • Plan procedures for improving the overall candidate experience
  • Perform analysis of hiring needs and provide employee hiring forecast based on the department's roadmap and goals

Executing

  • Work closely with the Hiring Manager and relevant team members to create alignment on position requirements and selection process for each hire
  • Plan and conduct recruitment and selection processes (interviews, screening calls etc.)
  • Ensure the execution of proper and efficient communication between candidates and the company
  • Facilitate the offer process by extending the offer and negotiating employment terms

Other

  • Ensure all screening, hiring, and selection is done in accordance with employment laws and regulations
  • Stay up to date on recruiting trends and best practices, specifically when it comes to building diverse teams
  • Collaborate with the Head of People and Head of Marketing to develop a thoughtful and unique talent brand strategy
