FRQs are a type of exam question that requires students to provide written responses rather than selecting from multiple-choice options. They assess students' understanding and application of concepts, as well as their ability to communicate mathematical reasoning.
Think of FRQs like writing an essay instead of taking a multiple-choice quiz. Just like in an essay, you have the freedom to explain your thoughts and show your work step by step.
Part A: This refers to the first section of an FRQ where students are asked to solve a specific problem or answer a question.
Part B: This refers to the second section of an FRQ where students are usually asked to analyze and interpret data or graphs.
Scoring Rubric: This is a set of guidelines used by graders to evaluate and assign points for each part of an FRQ response based on accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
