Bituminous coal is a type of coal that is intermediate in rank between sub-bituminous coal and anthracite coal. It has a relatively high carbon content and is commonly used for electricity generation and industrial processes.
Think of bituminous coal as the "Goldilocks" of coals - not too soft like sub-bituminous, and not too hard like anthracite. It's just right for producing energy efficiently!
Sub-bituminous coal: A lower-ranked type of coal with a higher moisture content than bituminous coal.
Anthracite coal: The highest-ranked type of coal, known for its high carbon content and low moisture content.
Lignite: A low-ranked type of brownish-black coal with a high moisture content.
