The Bonapartist Party was a political group in France that supported the ideas and leadership of Napoleon Bonaparte and his family. It emerged during the 19th century, particularly during the Second French Empire (1852-1870).
Napoleon III: He was the nephew of Napoleon I, served as President of France from 1848 to 1852, then declared himself Emperor until he was overthrown in 1870.
Second French Empire: This is the imperial bonapartist regime of Napoleon III from 1852 to 1870, between the Second Republic and the Third Republic, in France.
Coup d'etat: A sudden overthrow of a government by a small group; it's how both Napoleons came into power.
