Definition

A type of combat in which opposing troops fight from trenches facing each other.

No Man's Land: The dangerous, unoccupied area between opposing trenches in warfare, often filled with barbed wire and land mines.

Stalemate: A situation in a conflict where neither side can make progress against the other, much like a game with no clear winner.

World War I: The global conflict from 1914 to 1918 that saw extensive use of trench warfare, particularly on the Western Front.
