Definition

Allusions are references to well-known people, places, events, myths, or works of art within a literary work. They enrich the text by tapping into readers' prior knowledge and associations.

Analogy

Allusions in literature are like Easter eggs hidden in movies. Just as Easter eggs reference other films or pop culture moments for attentive viewers to discover, allusions reference familiar people, stories, or artworks for attentive readers to recognize and appreciate.
