Judaism is one of the oldest monotheistic religions, originating among the ancient Hebrews. It emphasizes ethical living through laws given by God (Yahweh) to Moses on Mount Sinai.
Imagine Judaism as an old tree with deep roots. The roots represent its ancient origins while its branches symbolize different interpretations and practices within Judaism today such as Orthodox, Conservative, Reform etc., but they all stem from the same trunk - belief in one God and following His laws.
Torah: The central reference of Jewish religious law; it includes five books also found in Christian Old Testament.
Diaspora: The dispersion of Jews beyond Israel; particularly during the period from 6th century BCE until today.
Zionism: A movement for originally re-establishing and now supporting Jewish national state in Palestine.
